Da Nang Itinerary: What to Do and Where to Go Within 48 Hours

There is a long list of destinations to visit in Da Nang and surrounding regions, but with only 48 hours at hand, it may seem impossible to experience everything this city has to offer. If you are planning a 2-day trip to Da Nang, below are our top recommendations for what to do and where to go first.

Important notes before planning your 2-day itinerary in Da Nang

With 2 days at hand, consider adding Hoi An ancient town to your Da Nang Trip. It’s a short 40–50-minute drive away yet offers a completely different ambiance, seamlessly blending cultural heritage with modern life.

Keep in mind that Hoi An’s daytime weather can be quite intense during the summer. If you arrive in Da Nang in the afternoon, it’s convenient to visit Hoi An first, spend the night there to enjoy the cooler atmosphere, and immerse yourself in diverse experiences. Then, return to Da Nang the next morning to continue exploring the city. On the other hand, if you arrive early in the morning, consider saving Hoi An for the evening to visit more places without facing exhaustion from the heat.

Alternatively, you can spend a day exploring some fantastic spots like Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Nature Reserve, Marble Mountains, My Son Sanctuary, and more. Don’t forget to equip yourself with a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water to stay protected from the summer weather.

If you haven’t crafted a detailed itinerary yet, here are some suggestions to consider!

Day 1: My Khe Beach - Hoi An

  • Morning

Start your day with an early morning food tour, indulging in popular local dishes like mi Quang (Quang-style noodles), banh mi, xoi ga (sticky rice with chicken), bun rieu (Vietnamese crab noodle soup), bun bo (beef noodle soup), and more.

After satisfying your culinary cravings, make your way to My Khe Beach, one of Da Nang’s most splendid and well-known coastal destinations. Sinking your toes into the soft white sands, relishing the soothing sea breeze, or engaging in exciting water sports such as surfing, kayaking, or beach volleyball, you may love to stay there forever.

  • Noon

Beachside restaurants or surrounding eateries will be the ideal place for a delightful lunch because you can savor the freshness of the sea flavor while immersing yourself in the soothing ocean sounds.

  • Afternoon

Continue your adventure by visiting the enchanting Son Tra Peninsula and exploring the awe-inspiring Marble Mountains until around 3–4 PM. Afterward, consider renting a motorbike or taking a bus to Hoi An, situated approximately 40 kilometers away from central Da Nang. As you arrive in Hoi An, you’ll instantly feel transported back in time with the charming atmosphere of the ancient town, which showcases the cultural and historical beauty of Vietnam.

Besides, you can also discover remarkable landmarks such as the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, ancient houses like Duc An and Tan Ky, and the timeless allure of the rustic walls and roofs that echo tales of the past from every corner of the town.

  • Evening

In Hoi An, don’t miss the chance to try unique and flavorsome dishes like Cao Lau, chicken rice, or banh uot thit nuong (steamed rice cake with grilled pork). These culinary delights will leave a lasting impression.

As the evening unfolds, you’ll witness Hoi An adorned with colorful lanterns, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Capture unforgettable moments as you stroll through the old town, enjoying the lively yet tranquil ambiance. Especially on the 15th day of the lunar month, you can float flower lanterns on small boats, making wishes for peace on the river.

It is our opinion to stay in Hoi An and return to Da Nang in the morning. But if you want to spend the whole evening in Da Nang, the bridges and bustling food squares are our top recommendations.

Day 2: Ba Na Hills - Da Nang Night Market

  • Morning

After savoring a delightful breakfast, the next destination on your list should undoubtedly be Ba Na Hills, which is known as “Heaven on Earth.” It is also a must-visit during the summer to escape from the city’s heat while immersing yourself in the lush, verdant surroundings.

To ascend to the Ba Na Hills, you will pass through the infinite layers of green by cable car. Each stop has its own charm. You can take part in a cultural and spiritual expedition, exploring the charming French-style village, the serene Linh Ung Pagoda, the intriguing wine cellars, the romantic Love Flower Garden, the lively amusement park, and, of course, the iconic Golden Bridge. Regardless of whether you are a nature enthusiast or a thrill seeker, Ba Na Hills always has something special to offer.
